Skiing technique - winter & summer
Grass skiing is also ideal as a complement to alpine skiing. The basics are very similar, especially for children, ie parallel guidance of legs and skis, an effort to turn the curve cleanly. There is only minimal movement in the anteroposterior direction in grass skiing, but on the other hand there is the need for constant corrections to maintain the central position on the grass skis.
The active concept of riding and the timely deployment of curves on grass skis cannot be "short-cutted", grass skis cannot be skidded into the curve, so especially in U8-U14 categories, the technique of riding on snow and grass is very similar and summer training is beneficial for every alpine skier.
Grasski training with Austria Alpine-B team ladies
The Austrian Alpine B women's team, which completed a week of training in Kaprun during the summer training before the winter of 2017/2018, was also convinced that the grass skis are an interesting addition to the summer training.
Katharina Liensberger was also part of the team, who is already a member of team A and at the end of the 2020 season holds the 6th place in the world slalom tables with 7 FIS points. And I can say that she got on the grass skis and she could do it right away.
